§ 14-3. Dogs running at large.

  • (a)

    Prohibited. It shall be unlawful for any person to allow a dog belonging to him or in his custody to run at large at any time during any month of the year. For the purpose of this section, a dog shall be deemed to run at large while roaming, running or self-hunting off the property of its owner or custodian and not under its owner's or custodian's immediate control.

    (b)

    Leash required. No dog, except when being utilized by an official law enforcement agency, shall go upon any public street, sidewalk, alley or park, or any other public property, or go upon the private property of another person, unless accompanied and held in leash by a responsible person.

    (c)

    Penalty for violation. Any person violating the provisions of this section shall be guilty of a class 4 misdemeanor for each violation.
